ENHANCING ENTRY TO UK MEDICAL & DENTAL SCHOOLS
Each year, we run a comprehensive UKCAT Summer Schools (July to September) in London and Essex locations. Year 12 students hoping to gain admission to UK Medical and Dental Schools will attend 8 scheduled sessions (3 hours per session) for £300. That’s under £12.50 per hour!!!
Our provision is uniquely designed so that we work with students over 8 sessions, giving them the opportunity to improve on their technique and scores over time. Over the years, we know that this has been a great advantage to students. We use the following methods of delivery side-by-side throughout the programme:
In-Class group Discussions (maximum of 8 students per group)
3 Mock Exams
The UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT) is a computer-based psychometric test used in the selection process by (26 out of the 33) UK Medical and Dental Schools. Used alongside other student information, it helps the universities make informed choices from amongst the many highly-qualified applicants who apply for their medical and dental degree programmes. In the face of stiff competition for places on these degree programmes, obtaining a high UKCAT score is very important and often advantageous.
Students applying for university entry in 2019 (or deferred entry in 2020) are required to sit the UKCAT at Pearson Vue centres by 2 October 2018. The test may only be taken once in any test cycle, highlighting the need for a high level of preparation for the exams. This will improve the chances of achieving a high score.
Detailed information about the UKCAT exam; key dates, deadlines and how to apply, is accessible via http://ww.ukcat.ac.uk.
Over 8 scheduled sessions (3 hours per session), we will cover all the UKCAT Exam subsets
We achieve excellent levels of individual student participation by the small class size of a maximum of 8 students. Through paper-based and online set-work to be completed independently by each student, we will monitor individual engagement and performance throughout the course of the programme. Performance analysis will highlight strengths and weaknesses in subsets of the UKCAT Exam, inform in-class discussions, and focus on improving scores.
2016 UKCAT Summer School Student – Nidesha.Nidesha attends a state school in Thurrock. She scored highly in the exam; approximately. 80th percentile of all test takers. She now has an offer to study Medicine at a London university starting September 2017.
I am a student that was guided and helped by Dr Derin [TAP Consultant]. From the very beginning, she had a very caring yet strict nature which was a little intimidating. Even though I was getting exhausted by the deadlines she set us, I would not change a thing if I went back. I genuinely do not think I would have got the score I got without her persistence and determination. I recommend her 10/10 and she is just very worth it. No matter what kind of a person you are, she will not give up on you. Believe it!
